"I love how all the students come together and support one another in their recitals its great. EMI, home to The Beatles, among others, was one of the most respected labels of the day, with The Beatles better known as the White Album being perhaps the best known LP issued on the label that year. Krissy Moyer a student who attended the show expressed how much she loved the show and the different types of music and songs that were chosen. Among the many bands to have albums released by EMI in 1968 none may have had a stranger back story than Rainbow Ffolly, whose Sallie Fforth hit record shops the first week of May. The music department being so small lets all the students know one another very well.

Students involved in the Brass Studies department all seemed to support one another very much and the audience was full of students who all knew one another. The kaleidoscope Brass Quintet preforming Elegy No.1 Which ended the performance with a statement. Last but not least came the finale of 5 older class men who preformed popular tunes such as songs from the Black Eyed Peas and Lady Gaga. It continued with the Kaleidoscope Brass Quintet who played jazz pieces.Īfter intermission the University Trombone Choir came out for a delightful array of many genres of music. Their performance had a latin flair to it which was translated into the story of Romeo and Juliet. It continued with a second group who called themselves Los Robles Brass Quintet. The show started out with the freshman brass students who set the stage with an array of different pieces.
The concert went smoothly and both the music and dance department put a lot of hard work and effort into the performance. And the dances ended with Diverting Normalcy choreographed by Holly Johnston and performed to Stravinsky Symphony in C.Ī large audience came to both of the performances and received great reviews. Following that Susan McLain's dance Life Line was combined with Three Movements by Reich. Dungan was combined with the music of Debussy's Images. The next dance Night Flowers, corepgrahed by Colleen T. It continued with Mozart's surrendering Adagio form the A Major Clarinet Concerto accompanied with Elegy(What Rises Can Fall) choreographed by Lorin Johnson.
The women dancers wore blue leotards and the men wore dark tops. The show opened with the dance Vista choreographed by Sophie Monat which was performed to Bach A minor Violin. Along with the music were 5 dances choreographed by CSULB faculty members and directed by Lorin Johnson and a short film by Keith Johnson and Gregory R.R. The concert consisted of 6 musical pieces conducted by Johanees Muller- Stosh which included music by Bach, Reich, Stravinsky, Mozart, and Debussy. The program was held at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center and was scheduled for both Friday Nov. For the first time at CSULB a full orchestra combined with contemporary dance came together in the same performance. Music and dance made CSULB history this weekend with the collaboration concert Fusion: A Performance of Dance and Live Music.
